The world has witnessed revolutionary changes in various fields; including the Libraries and Library Profession. Innovations and advancements have taken place in ways Libraries are run and maintained today across the globe. Trends and developments in Libraries have brought wonderful opportunities to the users of Knowledge Resources Centres, but this has also brought several challenges for the disseminators of this knowledge. To understand the future Librarianship, Innovations, Embedded, Sustainable and Emerging Trends of the electronic era, our educational institute NMIMS in association with Khon Kaen University, (KKU) Thailand, is organizing this ISKCOM -International Symposium on Knowledge and Communication.

 

About NMIMS

The Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) ( Deemed to be University) established in 1981 has over 13,000+ students and 400+ faculty members representing an eclectic mix of industry and academic experience in severed diverse domains of knowledge. ABOUT KHON KAEN UNIVERSITY, Thailand

Khon Kaen University (KKU) was established as the major university in the Northeastern part of Thailand in 1964 and has developed itself to become one of the top universities in Thailand. Khon Kaen University has recently become one of the nine national research universities in Thailand and an educational center in the Mekong sub-region. The Information and Communication Program (ICP) formerly known as the department of Library and information Science, was founded at Khon Kaen University in 1975. Since 2006 the program has incorporated the knowledge of information management and communication into its content to reflect the changes and development of information technology. Currently, there are 3 programs level under the ICP: Bachelor degree in Information Science, Master’s degree in Information Management, and Doctoral degree in Information Studies, and 1 Research group: Digital Humanities.

 

MUKESH PATEL CENTRAL LIBRARY, SHIRPUR

The Mukesh Patel Central Library which is the heart of the institute was established in 2007. Mukesh Patel Central Library with its modern collection of knowledge resources and innovative information services supports complementary roles for all students, faculty members and the surrounding community in their intellectual pursuit. It has a rich collection of 29500 books, 17 various full text databases and 1, 00,000 e-books from renowned publishers, NPTEL videos etc. Covering 45000 Sq ft area, it provides access to valuable resources in Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Computer Science, and Business Management. Library collection can also be searched through Web OPAC.

 

RAJA RAMMOHUN ROY LIBRARY FOUNDATION, INDIA.

RRRLF is a central autonomous organization established and fully financed by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. RRRLF is registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961. It is the nodal agency of the Government of India to support public library services and systems and promote public library movement in the country commensurate with the objectives as embodied in its Memorandum of Association.

The supreme policy-making body of RRRLF is called the Foundation.

It consists of 22 members nominated by the Government of India from amongst eminent educationists, librarians, administrators and senior officials. The Minister of the Department of Culture, Government of India or his nominee is the Chairman of RRRLF. Shri Ravindra Singh, Secretary to the Govt. of India, Ministry of Culture is the present Chairman of RRRLF and Director General is the executive head and ex-officio Member- Secretary of the Foundation. The Foundation and Director General is the executive head and ex-officio Member-Secretary of the Foundation. The Foundation functions in each State/U.T. through a machinery called SLC. The Foundation works in close association and active cooperation with different SLPC/SLC set up in each State at the instance of the Foundation. To participate in Foundation's programmes, a State Government/U.T. is required to contribute a certain amount fixed by the Foundation.
